• 1776 in D.C.

1776 was founded in January 2013 to serve as a global hub for start-ups tackling major challenges in education, energy, health care, government and other critical industries. Darden students and alumni may use the space available (five designated seats) on an interim basis and participate in 1776 events. If Darden entrepreneurs choose to take up residence at 1776, they are eligible for a discounted membership rate and may receive mentorship, corporate connections and access to capital, media outlets and a pipeline of top talent — the raw materials critical for innovators to succeed. The Batten Institute, through Darden's Entrepreneurship Program, hosts several networking and education events at 1776 each year.
